KEA.KAR.NIC.IN KCET 2013 ENTRANCE EXAM APPLY ONLINE, ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA, RESULTS


This Information is based on the last year's KCET Prospectus. As soon as the notifications for KCET 2013 Entrance Exam will be released the article will be updated.


Every year KCET is conducted for the admission in various Government/University/Private un-aided and Private aided professional Educational Institutions in Karnataka. The exam is conducted by KEA (Karnataka Examinations Authority) at 50 places spread in the entire Karnataka Region.


KCET 2013 will be conducted around the first week of May 2 and will have two papers:


Paper 1 : Biology/Mathematics


Paper 2 : Physics & Chemistry.


For the candidates who want to claim eligibility for Govt. Seats in KCET 2013 Entrance Exam under Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga eligibility clauses and who have Kannada, Tulu or Kodava as their mother tongues, will have to appear for the Kannada Language test conducted by KEA.

The application criteria for the students who want to apply for Engineering/Technological Courses is:

  1. To appear in KCET 2013, the candidates should have passed the qualifying exam i.e. 12th class or 2nd PUC with Mathematics and Physics as the compulsory subjects and Chemistry/Biology/Bio-Technology as optional subjects with English as the language of study with a minimum of 45% (General) and 40% (ST, SC, OBC and Category-1).
  2. The candidates appearing for the 2nd PUC, can also apply for the KCET 2013.
  3. The candidates should read the brochure carefully and completely to understand the documents they have to submit and they require during the admission process of KCET 2013.
Application Form:

The application form of KCET 2013 can be obtained from the office of the Principal/Head of Institution where the candidate has studied or studying for the 12th class.

The candidates have to submit a DD of Rs. 650/- (General) and Rs. 500/- (ST,SC and Category-1). This draft must be drawn in favor of:

The Executive Director,

Karnataka Examinations Authority,

Bangalore.


This DD should be payable at Bangalore. The candidates who are residing outside Karnataka i.e. Horanadu, Gadinadu etc, can obtain the KCET 2013 form via sending a DD of Rs. 750/- and a Self-Addressed cloth lined envelope of 30cmx25cm.

The candidates who are residing outside India can send a DD of Rs. 5000/- an obtain the form by speed post.


The guidelines for sending the self-addressed envelope are as follows:

  1. The envelope contents should be in English or in Kannada language only.
  2. The cover of the Self-Addressed Envelope and DD should be super scribed boldly with the words “REQUEST FOR CET-2013 BROCHURE”.
  3. The DD and Self-Addressed Envelope should be sent via Speed Post

If the candidates send the envelopes requesting for KCET 2013 Application Form via courier or in person or via any other private arrangement or the candidates who send the envelopes with incomplete, incorrect or insufficient address, KEA will not take any responsibility.

  1. The last day of submission of DD via Speed Post will be around the 3rd week of March 2013.
  2. The candidates will get the brochure cum KCET 2013 Application Form till the 4th week of March 2013.

The candidates who have obtained the Application Form at Horanadu and Gadinadu will have to undertake a test of Kannada conducted via KEA.

The guidelines to fill the KCET 2013 Entrance Exam Application Form are as under:

  1. The KCET 2013 Application Form should be filled legibly with BLUE or BLACK Ball Point Pen only. Candidates have to both fill and shade the application form as per the instructions given.
  2. The data filled by the candidate once in KCET 2013 Application Form will be final. Therefore, the candidates should not make any stray marks or send any other documents or papers in support of the filed data.
  3. If any kind of discrepancy regarding candidate’s credentials or the information in the application form is detected at any point of the admission process, the candidature of the subject shall be cancelled at once.
  4. The candidate should carefully completely fill the form so as to avoid rejection.
  5. No request for any change in the information filled in the KCET 2013 Entrance Exam Application Form will be entertained and the candidates should carefully fill the information regarding their SC/ST/OBC status as the proof of belonging to these categories will be required at the document verification stage.

The candidates should not leave any space blank. They should write NA for the conditions that don’t apply to them.

  1. After completely filling the Application Form, the candidates have to submit the forms. The candidates who obtained the form from the School or the institute they study in will have to submit their forms to the Principal till the second week of April 2013.  Such Candidates cam obtain their admit cards after the third week of April 2013.
  2. However, the candidates who have obtained their KCET 2013 Application Form via speed post will have to submit their completely filled forms via Speed Post directly to KEA till the second week of April 2013. Such candidates will get their Admit Cards via Speed Post only.
  3. If however, the candidates didn’t get their Admit Cards via Speed Post till the last week of April 2013, can contact the Executive Director, KEA with the photocopy of their KCET 2013 Entrance Exam Application Form and Speed Post Receipt.

The various clauses of KCET Eligibilty Criteria are as follows :

  1. The candidate should have studied for at least 7 yrs form 1st to 12th and must have passed either 10th or 12th class form the Govt. or Govt. Recognized institutions located in Karnataka. If one student has made more than one attempt at any class’ exams, that will be counted as one year only.
  2. Candidates should have passed 11th and 12th exam from an institution recognized by Karnataka State Government and one of their parents should also have studied in Karnataka for at least 7 yrs as per KCET 2013 Eligibility Criteria.
  3. The mother tongue of candidate and one of his/her parents should be Kannada, Kodava or Tulu and either of his/her parents should be Karnataka Domicile. Candidates of such category should have passed the 12th class form any educational institution from outside Karnataka and should have resided outside Karnataka to be eligible as per KCET 2013 Eligibility Criteria. A Kannada Language Test will be conducted by KEA for such Candidates.
  4. The candidates speaking Kannada, Kodava or Tulu as their mother tongue should have resided and studied for 7 yrs (1st to 12th) in disputed Kannada speaking areas of Southh Sholapur, Jath, Akkalkot or Gadhinglaj Taluks of Maharahstra or Hosadurga  or Kasargod or Taluks of Kerala. Such candidates will also have to give a Kannada Language test conducted by KEA as per KCET 2013 Entrance Exam Eligibility Criteria.
  5. According to the KCET 2013 Eligibility Criteria, in case of Defence Personnel who have worked in Karnataka continuously and have worked for at least one year during which the candidate has passed 10th and 12th from Karnataka, have their wards eligible.
  6. The children of the serving Defence Personnel who have submitted the hometown as Karnataka while joining the army are eligible according to KCET 2013 Eligibility Criteria. Such candidates should be able to produce such type of domicile at the time of admission as a proof.
  7. According to KCET 2013 Eligibility Criteria the candidate whose parent have been a Defence Personnel and served in Karnataka for a minimum of one year and is on duty in Active Service/Field and whose family has been granted the permission to stay in Karnataka. To be eligible as per KCET 2013 Eligibility Criteria, such candidate should have qualified the 12th class exam form any Govt. Recognized or Govt. Institution in Karnataka.
  8. An Ex-Servicemen who has declared Karnataka as his home state at the time of joining the service will have to produce a domicile from the “Deputy Director, Department of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement” in order to have their wards eligible as per KCET 2013 Eligibility Criteria. Also the candidate should have passed the 12th class exam from any Board or University or any other institution in India.
  9. Wards of employees of Union Government or Karnataka State Govt. Undertaking or Union or Joint Sector Undertaking, who are transferred anywhere in India and has worked for a minimum period of one year in Karnataka during the 11th and 12th class of the ward are also eligible as per KCET 2013 Eligibility Criteria. Such candidates should also have passed the 12th exam form any Govt. recognized or Govt. educational institution in Karnataka.
  10. The working or retired employees of Union or Union Govt. or Karnataka State Undertaking or Joint Sector Undertaking who have declared Karnataka as their home town state and have studied in the Govt. or Govt. recognized institutions located in Karnataka for minimum of 7 yrs and were liable to be transferred anywhere in India can have their wards eligible for KCET 2013 if their ward has passed the 12th class exam from any Board or University or any other educational institution from anywhere in India as per KCET 2013 Eligibility Criteria.
  11. The wards of Members of Parliament who are elected from Karnataka and have passed their 12th class exam from any Board or University in India will be eligible as per KCET 2013 Eligibility Criteria.
  12. The wards of working or retired employees of All India Service of Karnataka cadre and of the employees of Karnataka State Government who has worked or is working outside Karnataka during the study period from 1st to 12th can be included to make up the seven years of study in Karnataka as per KCET 2013 Eligibility Criteria.
  13. According to KCET 2013 Eligibility Criteria, the wards of J&K Migrants are also eligible for KCET 2013 given they submit the proof of migration from the jurisdictional “District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner” of any Indian State.
  14. The candidates who have studied outside Karnataka in Kannada medium from 1st to 10th class are eligible as per KCET 2013 Eligibility Criteria. Such candidates need not give the Kannada Language Test conducted by KEA given the candidate have passed the 12th class examination from the Govt. Recognized or Govt. institution.
  15. The candidates who have passed the qualifying exam from any University or Board located anywhere In India and are the wards of the people serving in CAPF who have declared Karnataka as their home town state and whose proof is available in the record office of CAPF unit are also eligible as per KCET 2013 Eligibility Criteria.

The candidates have to submit various documents at the time of application and admission in KCET 2013 which are listed in the Information Brochure. According to KCET 2013 Eligibility Criteria, candidates claiming eligibility in all the above mentioned categories must furnish these documents in order to be eligible for KCET 2013.


Students, taking KCET 2013 for admission in Engineering and Technology courses, will get KCET 2013 Result around the end of May, 2013. The result will be calculated on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics in KCET 2013.


If however, the KCET 2013 Result of two or more students is same, the inter-se merit will be calculated on the basis of marks secured in Physics, then Chemistry and then Mathematics in KCET 2013.


If in any case the tie still exists in KCET 2013 Result, the preference will be decided on the basis of age of the candidates and the elder candidate will be given preference over the younger candidate.


In case the tie still exists between candidates, the KCET 2013 Entrance Exam Result for such candidates will be calculated on the basis of draw of lots.
