West Bengal Police (WBP) is formed under provisions of the Police Act
1861 by the government of West Bengal. The West Bengal Police is known
as the Police Regulations of Bengal (PRB).
The West Bengal Police (WBP) has three police Zone and a number of units such as the Armed Battalions consisting of State Armed Police (SAP), Eastern frontier Rifles (EFR) and India Reserve Battalions (IRBs), Criminal Investigation department (CID), Enforcement Branch (EB), Intelligence Branch (IB), Traffic Branch, Police Telecommunications, Training Wing, State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB) & Police Computer Centre (PCC). recruitment to the various posts such as Constables, Sub Inspectors,
Officers and Inspectors. The West Bengal Police Department conducts
written exam and Physical eligible test and then declares the
results.The selection is purely based on the merit list and selection is
subject to the rules and regulation of the home ministry of West Bengal
