Organisation Description :

The Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (Punjab) has been established through the Central Universities Act 2009 which received the assent of the President of India on 20th March 2009. Its territorial jurisdiction extends to the whole State of Punjab. This newly set up Central University of Punjab (CUP) at Bathinda is poised to write new alphabet on the academic horizon of India. This University is one of the important links in the recently set up chain of Central Universities created in the educationally backward areas of India. Going to be an upwardly mobile organization, it is destined to emerge as a quality provider of teaching and research, knowledge and skills, products and services, attitudes and ethics. It is gearing up to provide proper institutional leadership to the emerging demands of access, equity, relevance and quality in the mainstream University system. It has already flexed its muscles and initiated its first academic session.

Job Role :

The university  is  undertaking  M.Phil.-Ph.D.,  M.Pharm.-Ph.D.,  LL.M.-Ph.D.  integrated  and  M.Tech. programs  and  invites  applications  for  the  post of  Assistant  Professors in  the  following  centres  of studies on  purely  temporary  and  contract  basis  for  one  year  or  till  the  positions  are  filled  up  on regular basis whichever is earlier:

Biosciences : Biophysics, Cancer Biology, Cytogenetics, Electron Microscopy, Genetics, Human Genetics/Biology, Microbiology and Nanobiology*

Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences : Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Drug Designing, Nanochemistry, Physical Chemistry*

Comparative Literature : Culture Studies, Diasporic Literature and any modern Indian or Foreign Language*

Computer Science and Technology : Artificial Intelligence, Network Technologies, Neural Networking and Software Engineering*

Environmental Science and Technology : Environmental Engineering and Waste Management*

Environmental Law : Constitutional Law, Environmental law and  International Law*

Social Studies : Development Economics, Industrial Economics and Macroeconomics

South and Central Asian Studies : Economics, Geography, International Relations, Political Science and Sociology*

Educational Qualification :

Medium of Instruction    :  English
 
Emoluments (consolidated)  :  M.Phil. + NET + Ph.D. : Rs. 42,000/- p.m.
           NET + Ph.D. : Rs. 39,000/- p.m.
          M.Tech.  : Rs. 36,000/- p.m.

Free  Accommodation:  Depending  upon  the  availability,  partly  furnished  transit  accommodation  at city campus may be given to faculty free of cost for three months on sharing basis.

Minimum Qualifications:  

For  Assistant  Professors:  NET/SLET  +  Ph.D.  is  the  minimum  eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment.

a)  Essential:

Good  academic  record  with  atleast  55%  marks  (50%  in  case  of  SC/ST/Physically  &  Visually handicapped candidates) or an equivalent grade of B in the 7 point scale with letter grades O,A,B,C,D,E, & F at the Master’s degree level, in relevant discipline from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from a foreign University.
 
  •   The  candidates,  who  are  or  have  been  awarded  Ph.D.  degree  in  compliance  of  the“University Grants  Commission  (minimum  standards and procedure  for  award of Ph.D.Degree),  Regulation  2009,  shall  be  exempt  from  the  requirement  of  the  minimumeligibility  condition  of  NET/SLET  for  recruitment  and  appointment  as  Assistant Professor”. b)  Explanation:
The term ‘good academic record’ would imply the following:
i)  At  least  55%  marks  (50%  in  case  of  SC/ST/Physically  &  Visually  handicapped  candidates)  or an equivalent grade at Master’s degree level. And
ii)  At  least 50%  marks  (45%  in  case  of  SC/ST/Physically  &  Visually  handicapped  candidates)  at the graduation level.
Or
At  least  50%  marks  (45%  in  case  of  SC/ST/Physically  &  Visually  handicapped  candidates)  in Honours at the graduation level.

Note:  A relaxation of 5% is admissible from 55% to 50% of the marks to the Ph.D. degree holders who have passed the Master’s degree prior to 19th September 1991.

 Reservation Policy:  The University follows Government of India rules for reservations.


Procedure to Apply:
 
  •  The  candidate  should  download  the  application  form  available  at website www.centralunipunjab.com    and  submit  it  complete  in  all  respects on or  before 22nd February 2012.
  •  One set of self attested certificates and other supporting documents are to be attached withthe  application  form.  The  candidates  should  bring  original  certificates  at  the  time  of interview.
  •   The  candidates  should  submit Four  Copies  of  the  Summary  Sheet  and  the  API  form(Category III) along with their Application. The API form is available at university website.
  •  Application fee of Rs. 100/- in the form of Demand draft in the favour of Central Universityof Punjab payable at Bathinda should accompany the application.
  •  In case of in service candidates, the endorsement form must be signed by the employer.
