Job Role : 

1. Junior Scale of Jammu and Kashmir Administrative service – 35 posts

2. J&K Accounts Service  - 22 posts

3. J&K Police Service – 08 posts
 
Number of Vacancies : Totally 65 posts.
Education Qualification : Must  hold  a  Bachelor’s  degree  of  a  recognized  University  in  India  or  of  a  foreign University declared by Government in consultation with the Commission to be equivalent to the degree of a recognized Indian University
 
Age Limit : Must have attained the age of 21 years but must have not crossed the age of 35 years (in case of OM candidates) on 1st January, 2012 i.e. a candidate must have been born not earlier than 01.01.1977 and not later than 01.01.1991. 

 The upper age limit is 37 years prescribed in case of the following:-
a)  Candidates  belonging  to  Scheduled  Castes/  Scheduled  Tribes/  Socially  and Educationally Backward Classes;
b) Candidates holding a civil post in the State in a substantive capacity.

 The upper age limit for physically challenged candidates is 38 years irrespective of the category to which such a candidate belongs.  

Physical Standards : J&K Police (Gazetted) Service, the candidate should possess the following physical standards also:- 

I.   For Males :  
(a) Height : 165 cm  
(b) Chest girth Min. 84 cm.      Expansion 5 cm
 
II.  For Females :
(a) Height: 150 cm
(b) Chest girth Min. 79 cm.      Expansion 5 cm

III.  For candidates from Leh/ Kargil
 a. For Males :  
(i)  Height: 160 cm 
(ii)  Chest girth: Min. 79 cm. Expansion 5 cm

b. For Females :
(i)   Height: 145 cm
(ii)   Chest girth: Min. 79 cm. Expansion 5 cm”  

Pay Scale : Rs. 9300-34800 PB-2 with grade pay of Rs. 4800.

Established Year : December 31, 1954

Organization Description : Till the end of the year 1954 there was no formal recruiting agency in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. A Public Service Recruitment Board’ was set up on December 31, 1954. Subsequently with the coming into force of the “Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir State” on 26th of January 1957, “Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission” was established, under section 128 of the Constitution of J&K, on September 2, 1957, with Major General Yadev Nath Singh PVC, as it is first Chairman.
Under section 129 of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir the Chairman and the Members of the Public Service Commission are appointed by the Governor for a period of five years or till he attains the age of 65 years whichever is earlier.

Vision of Organization : Selecting the most capable and deserving persons, for manning the civil services and posts, and perform other functions assigned to the Commission in accordance with the mandate of the Constitution.
