Job Role : 

1.Professor : 4 Posts (Veterinary College and Research Institute, Orathanadu).

2.Associate Professor : 19 Posts (Veterinary College and Research Institute, Orathanadu and Tirunelveli)

3.Assistant Professor : 22 Posts (Veterinary College and Research Institute, Orathanadu and Tirunelveli and Institute of Poultry Production and Management, Hosur).

Number of Vacancies : 45 Job Vacancies.


Education Qualification :

(a) Professor : 
 
(i)   Ph.D.  Degree  with  ten  years  of  experience  in  the  teaching/research/extension  in  the concerned subject.   

(ii)  A  minimum  score  as  stipulated  in  the  Academic  Performance  Indicator  (API)  based  Performance Based  Appraisal  System  (PBAS),  set  out  in  the  Service  Rules  of  the  University  hosted  in  the TANUVAS website www.tanuvas.ac.in. 

Desirable: 
 
(i)   Post-doctoral research outputs as added advantage; 

(ii)  With awards / honours /and recognitions; 

(iii) Additional  research  degrees;  patents  and  IPR  on  products  and  processes  developed  / technology    transfer achieved in the case of teachers in science and technology. 

 (iv) Any contribution to educational innovation, like design of new curricula and courses and technology – mediated teaching learning process. 

(v)  Published work of high quality, actively engaged in research / Extension with evidence of published work with a minimum of 10 publications as books or research/policy papers.

(b) Associate Professor :
(i)  Good academic record with a Ph.D. degree in the concerned disciplines.
(ii)  A Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed).
(iii) A minimum  of  eight years of  experience of  teaching/research /  Extension  in  an  academic/research position  equivalent  to  that  of  Assistant  Professor  in  a  University,  College  or  Accredited  Research Institution/industry  excluding  the  period  of  Ph.D.  research  with  evidence  of  published  work  and  a minimum of 5 publications as books / research/policy papers.
(iv) Contribution  to  educational  innovation,  design  of  new  curricula  and  courses,  and  technology – mediated  teaching  learning  process  with  evidence  of  having  guided  doctoral  candidates  and research students.
(v)  A  minimum  score  as  stipulated  in  the  Academic  Performance  Indicator  (API)  based  Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in the Service Rules of the University hosted in the TANUVAS
website www.tanuvas.ac.in.

(c) Assistant Professor : 
 
(i)  Good  academic  record  as  defined  by  the  University  with  at  least  55%  of  marks  (or  an  equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Master’s Degree level in a relevant  /  concerned  subject  or  an  equivalent  degree  from  an  accredited  foreign  University.  A minimum    OGPA  of  2.25/4.00  or  6.50/10.00  or  its  equivalent  is  essential. The  candidates  should possess  the  basic  degree  of  B.V.Sc.  /  B.V.Sc.  &  AH  in  the  Veterinary  and  Animal  Sciences  Facuty posts.

(ii)  Besides  fulfilling  the  above  qualifications,  the  candidate  must  have  cleared  the  National  Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the ASRB, UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC.

(iii) NET shall not be required for such Masters Programme in disciplines for which NET is not conducted.

Professor : Rs.37400-67000 + Academic Grade Pay of  Rs. 10000/-.                                           
Associate Professor : Rs.37400-67000 + Academic Grade Pay of  Rs. 9000/-
Assistant Professor (Stage 1 ): Rs.15600-39100 + Academic Grade Pay of  Rs. 6000/-

Organization Description : The seed for the establishment and growth of TANUVAS was  sown as early as 1876, when the Madras Veterinary College was  started  as  an  Agricultural  School  in Chennai to offer diploma and certificate  course  in  the  field  of veterinary  and animal sciences.

 TANUVAS is an autonomous institution governed by its Board of Management which regulates the polices of the university in accordance with the provision of act and statues. The Planning Board and the Finance Committee of the university also support the University administration. While the Boards of Studies of Faculties and the Academic Council look after the academic pursuits of the University, the research policy of the university is watched over by the Research Council of the University. The Extension Education Council decides the policy with regard to the outreach programmes.

Application Fee : Registration fee of Rs.500/- (Rupees five hundred only)/Rs.250/- in case of SC/ST candidates by a crossed Demand Draft drawn in favour of "The Finance Officer, Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Chennai-51" at any nationalised bank payable at Chennai. The Demand Draft should be dated not earlier than 27th April 2012.
